Mark, my brother and head of Kowalski CPA, needed an online home base for his accounting practice. Mark is known to clients as a warm, friendly and clever accountant who makes taxes and business finance feel less scary. I was keen on translating this personal impression to Mark's website design so potential clients could get a sense of him right away.

Clean layout and custom photography

As a Shopify study recently showed, a clean layout design and high-quality photography are #1 factors in creating trust on a website. I kept Kowalski CPA's website clean with lots of white space to highlight content and create a modern and light feeling. I was also able to bring in my years of past experience as a photographer and kick off the whole project with a photoshoot in Mark's office. These high-quality, custom images lead the website design and bring a personal touch that generic stock photos just can't create.

When potential clients can see the real person behind the business, they are more likely to feel trust and reach out.

Custom branded graphics to highlight services

Another custom touch that drives the personable feeling of the website are the custom icons and branded graphics that I created for Mark. We wanted everything on the site to look like it had been intentionally created (no generic stock imagery here!) to stand out from the typical industry websites. I created a series of custom icons to reflect Mark's services, as well as created graph pattern imagery as a special nod to a math accessory we all know.
